Open weekend at historic Tees Cottage Pumping Station, Darlington
VISITORS are invited to learn more about the work of an historic North-East pumping station this weekend.
The Tees Cottage Pumping Station in Darlington, is opening its doors to the public on Saturday September 14 and Sunday September 15 as part of a Heritage Open Weekend.
Staff will be on hand to give information about the Victorian waterworks, which began supplying water to the town in 1849.
Visitors can explore the grounds and get up close and find out more about the machinery and engines on the site.
The station, on Coniscliffe Road, will be open from 11am until 5pm. The engines will not be operating on the weekend.
