Major extension completed at care home in Seaham

A CARE home in east Durham has completed a major extension project.
The project, carried out with the support of funding from Lloyds TSB Commercial Banking, involved the extension of Melbury House, Mount Stewart Street, Seaham.
With an additional 11 rooms added to the property, the home now has capacity for 34 people.
A kitchen, garden room, wet rooms and bathrooms completed the extension.
Owners Rob Roney and Susan Patel now plan to increase staffing levels by around 50 per cent.
Mr Roney said: “At a time when other care homes in the region had empty beds, we were oversubscribed and so we realised that in order to meet the demand, we would have to extend the care home.
“The expansion has not been without its challenges, but the support we have received from Lloyds TSB, as well as the finance the bank provided, has been instrumental in allowing us to achieve our aims.”
Stuart Harper, healthcare relationship manager for Lloyds TSB Commercial Banking, said: “The extension has been completed to a high standard and means that the home can care for even more people.
“The increased space has been vital in allowing the business to meet the high demand for its services.”
