Sunny vibe at Spennymoor shop fundraiser
THERE was a totally tropical feeling at a grocery shop when it hosted a beach party in the aisles today (Friday, August 23).
Staff at The Co-operative Food store, on Oxford Street, in Spennymoor, dressed up and hosted the event to raise funds for Carers Trust which is The Co-operative’s charity of the year for 2013.
Money raised will help the charity support some of the country’s 500,000 14 to 25 year olds who care for a family member or friend.
Store manager, Neil Murrell, said: “It’s great to think that while we’re creating a holiday atmosphere in store we’re raising funds to provide much needed breaks for young carers across the UK.
“We’re determined to keep the fundraising momentum going and are planning more events before the year is out.”
