A-peel for help after jet skiers slip up with inflatable banana
A LIFEBOAT crew rescued three men who had been playing with an inflatable banana after they got into trouble in Hartlepool bay.
The men had been on two jet skis and were towing the banana when the skis suffered a mechanical failure.
Hartlepool RNLI's inshore lifeboat went to their assistance at the request of the local coastguard.
The men and the jet skis were recovered and taken to the Tees and Hartlepool Yacht Club slipway and passed to coastguard offiicals.
Mike Craddy, Hartlepool RNLI’s operations manager said: "Our volunteer crew members picked the men up from Middleton beach and took them to Tees and Hartlepool Yacht Club along with their jet skis.
"We are not sure what happened to the banana."
