Man who struck horse to appear in court
A FOOTBALL fan who punched a police horse during last season’s Tyne-Wear derby has been charged with violent disorder.
Barry Rogerson, 45, has been bailed by Northumbria Police to appear before Newcastle Magistrates Court on September 9.
Mr Rogerson, of Bedlington, Northumberland, was filmed squaring up to Bud, a police horse from West Yorkshire, before appearing to throw punches at him.
The Newcastle supporter was among the crowds as fans clashed with police after losing 3-0 at home torivals Sunderland in April.
