8:16pm Monday 12th August 2013 in News
TWO County Durham men had to be rescued after falling into the sea from a jetski this afternoon (Monday, August 12).
The pair, from Ferryhill, County Durham, had been in the water off Redcar for about half an hour before they were spotted by the Tees pilot cutter at 2.40pm.
One of the men was picked up by the pilot cutter. He was suffering from hypothermia and was taken into the River Tees to a waiting ambulance before being transferred to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The second man was picked up by a support vessel working in the Teesside Wind Farm.
The Redcar RNLI lifeboat was launched to pick him up from the support vessel and take him back to Hartlepool where Coastguard officers were waiting.
