A STANLEY pub has won acclaim for its service to families.
The South Causey Inn, in Beamish Burn Road, has won the title Best Family Pub 2013 for Yorkshire, North East and Scotland in the BT Sport Great British Pub Awards 2013.
The awards are organised by pub industry magazine, the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.
Editor Rob Willock said: “The award recognises the pub that has best capitalised on the family market in the past 12 months.
“The South Causey Inn has its own Riding School, beautiful gardens, a range of animals in its mini farm, arranged family walks and outdoor nature trail for children to follow. “It even offers visiting families free pony rides every Sunday between noon and 1pm. “It hosts a weekly mother and toddler group, as well as catering for all types of family functions; birthdays, baby showers, christenings and weddings.
“The pub offers excellent children’s meals, including homemade mince and Yorkshire pudding and home made pizza with children choosing their own toppings.
“The South Causey Inn is a very worthy winner of the award.”
The pub is run by Susan Moiser.
It will go forward to the awards final at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London, on Thursday September 12.
It will face five other regional winners for the UK title Best Family Pub 2013 and compete for the overall title of Great British Pub of the Year.
