Hundreds to 'bike for Bobby'
FOUR hundred people will take to their bikes to raise money for Sir Bobby Robson’s cancer charity this weekend.
The Bike for Bobby event includes routes of 40, 70 and 125 miles, all starting and ending at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park on Sunday (August 11).
All cyclists are collecting sponsorship for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, the former Newcastle United and England manager’s cancer charity.
The bike ride has been organised by the Robbie Elliott Foundation, set up by the former Magpies defender last year to support cancer charities.
Meanwhile, Once More For Bobby, a documentary which tells the story of the 3,500-mile charity cycle ride Elliott and triathlete Phil Gray undertook last year, is to be premiered at 45 venues this weekend as part of the Sir Bobby Robson National Football Day.
Proceeds from the film sales will go to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
