ONE of Britain’s leading actors will be making a special appearance at a North Yorkshire visitor attraction.

An evening with Matthew Rhys is being held at Thorp Perrow Arboretum, near Bedale, on August 11.

The 38-year-old, who is currently starring in The Americans, has recently been in North Yorkshire filming at various stately homes for a BBC Christmas drama in which he plays one of Jane Austen's most famous characters, Mr Darcy.

Helena Shadbolt of CLD communications said: "Matthew is a huge supporter of Thorp Perrow, and its beautiful gardens and will be hosting an evening there on August 11, to raise money for the house and wildlife centre.

"The evening will include a drinks reception, followed by a narration by Matthew of famous Yorkshire poems. He will then conduct a 30 minute question and answer session and drinks will be served after so that guests can enjoy the house and gardens of Thorp Perrow.”

Tickets for the event cost £20 from www.thorpperrow.com
