TWO people were arrested following an attempted robbery at a Yorkshire Dales jewellers at the weekend.

A man aged 29 and a 17-year-old youth - both local - were questioned after an incident at Emma Sedman Jewellery, in Leyburn, on Saturday. Two people entered the shop at about 12.20pm with what is believed to have been an air gun.

The suspects were arrested at 1.25pm in connection with the incident.

Both were later released pending further inquiries.

Emma Sedman, the owner of the shop, said she had been advised by the police not to comment while the investigation continued.
