A CHARITY shop is appealing for donations of memorabilia from yesteryear to link up with a special vintage day at a nearby museum.

Barnardo's, in Horsemarket, Barnard Castle, aims to have a vintage event and sale to coincide with The Bowes Museum’s Big Vintage Picnic on Sunday, June 30.

The store has begun collecting everything from vintage vinyl records, to bric-a-brac, with Wade and Carlton ceramic among the pieces.

There is also a mint condition Victorian pram which will take pride of place in the sale.

Tracy Hiles, of the Barnardo’s shop, said: “We have something for everyone and every keen collector, with old fashioned games such as Subuteo and table skittles, vintage handbags and shoes, an old record player and even a gas mask.

“But we need more items donated to really fill the shop and make it a proper collectors’ treasure trove.

“At the moment, the retro clothes we have are really more ‘bad taste’ 70s items than vintage, so we are appealing for people to look in their attics, lofts, garages and the cupboard under the stairs, to see what they have.

“We’d love 40s, 50s, 60s clothes and even older things, if we can get them.”

If anyone has anything they would like to donate to the Barnardo’s vintage event, please drop into the store at 26, Horsemarket, or call Tracy on 01833-630395.
