A SCHOOL will be the venue for what is being billed as the biggest stamp fair to be held in the region for more than ten years.
Rye Hills School, Redcar, will host the event, on June 29.
It will feature 15 dealers in stamps, postcards and other items of interest, who will be looking to both buy and sell items.
A spokesman for the organisers said: “This is a rare chance for enthusiasts to browse and acquire some of the best items available, all on their doorstep.
“In addition, the top 25 entries in the regional display competition will be on show.
“Selected from over 50 original entries, these exhibits are the absolute best of the local societies’ competitions as well as several displays reflecting local interests and themes.”
Among the exhibits will be the Past Presidents display from Saltburn’s David Turner.
Focusing on Nelson and the Napoleonic Wars, this will include rare and original letters from ship commanders, stamps and covers reflecting the battles and Nelson’s own signature, one of the first written with his left hand following the loss of his right arm at the Battle of Santa Cruz.
Entry to the event, which runs from 10am to 4pm, is free and there will be free parking available.
