DARLINGTON Football Club has announced plans to take the Northern League trophy on tour.

The club said it had been inundated with requests for the trophy to visit schools, factories, businesses and shops since sealing the league title last month.

The trophy will make its first public appearance of the tour on Thursday (May 16) between 2.30pm and 4pm at Darlington Borough Council’s careers and opportunities event at the Dolphin Centre sports hall.

Fans can have their picture taken with the trophy.

Dave Mills, a director of Darlington Football Club CIC, said: “Because we have had so many requests we are putting together a calendar of where and when the trophy will be on tour to give as many fans as possible a chance to see it.

“The tour will take in all areas of Darlington and surrounding towns and villages.

“We want fans to tell us where they would like their trophy to go and if anyone would like to request a trophy appearance at their place of work or social event they can either email me at dave.mills@darlingtonfc.org or leave me a note at Quaker Retail in the indoor market.”

A trophy on tour calendar will be published in due course.
