A MUSEUM will be hosting a series of seminars on objects found locally that give insight into the history of Swaledale.
The Swaledale Museum, Reeth, also plans to build up a series of case studies to reveal the history of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale from prehistory to the present.
The first session is on Saturday, May 18, when archaeologist Tim Laurie will launch the series with an investigation of two prehistoric tools found locally, an axe and a hammer. On Saturday, June 22, the seminar will look at some Romano-British pot fragments uncovered in Fremington in 2012. The third session on Saturday, July 6, will focus on some medieval glass fragments from Marrick Priory.
Each event will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm in the museum. Tickets are £10 in advance; £12 on the door; and £8 for members of the Friends of the Museum or the Swaledale and Arkengarthdale Archaeology Group).
