A MAN has been arrested in connection with a suspected multi-million pound drugs ring following a police appeal for information.

The 27-year-old was arrested in Middlesbrough as part of Operation Cobweb, a joint Cleveland and Greater Manchester Police investigation.

He was arrested on suspicion of both drugs and money laundering offences.

Officers are still trying to trace to 23-year-old Stockton man, Ricky Beresford who was recently living in Bishop Auckland.

Mr Beresford, who police say has numerous connections across the Cleveland area, is known locally as Beevis and is of Asian appearance.

Police have now rounded up 26 suspected drugs dealers from across Teesside and Greater Manchester in recent weeks, most in a series of dawn raids. A total of 18 people have been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mr Beresford is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
