WASHINGTON Wetland Centre has been unveiled as a finalist in the Small Visitor Attraction category of the 2013 Visit England Awards for Excellence.
WWT Washington’s marketing manager Leanne McCormella said: “To say we’re ecstatic is an understatement.
“This is the first time that WWT Washington Wetland Centre has made it through to the national tourism award finals, having been named the North-East’s best three times in the last four years.
“The UK is home to a thriving and competitive tourism industry, so to be recognised as one of England’s finest is a real honour and a reflection of all the hard work and commitment shown by our dedicated staff and volunteers."
The overall winner will be unveiled at an awards ceremony on May 20 at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Manchester.
