Two taken to hospital after two vehicle smash in Brancepeth

Two people had to be cut free after a two vehicle smash in Brancepeth, near Durham tonight (Thursday, March 14).
The accident happened at the cross roads with the A690 and The Village shortly after 7pm.
Three fire crews from Durham responded together with a special rescue unit from Bishop Auckland after receiving reports that people were trapped.
Crews released the two people from the wreckage using hydraulic cutting equipment and they were taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Durham. No further information is available.
