Children injured in North Yorkshire bus crash

TWO children and an adult have been taken to hospital after a bus crash on the A59 in North Yorkshire today.

The accident happened near Kirk Hammerton at about 1.30pm.

Initial reports were that at least one of the buses was carrying children from a local school.

The air ambulance was initially called, but was stood down when the accident turned out to be less serious than first feared, said a Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokeswoman.

She said the children's injuries were minor and the adult had chest and neck injuries that were not very serious. She said all three had been taken to Harrogate District Hospital as a precaution.

The road remains closed, while police deal with the accident.
