Investigation underway at secure unit for young people

AN investigation is underway after concerns were raised over the running of secure unit for young people.
The issue at Aycliffe Young People’s Centre, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, is understood to relate to night time operations.
The centre provides accommodation, care, education and health services for more than 40 people aged between 11 and 17-years-old.
Gill Palin, strategic manager at the centre, said: “I can confirm an internal enquiry is underway and when it is complete a decision will be made on whether any action needs to be taken.
“The smooth running of the centre is unaffected.”
