Back to the classroom to secure dream job

JUGGLING a degree, two jobs and three children is all in a day’s work for Gayle Smith, who is realising her dream of becoming a midwife.

‘It’s never too late to learn’ is the motto of the inspirational mother who has gone back to the classroom at the age of 36 to fulfil her potential.

As she left school without a pass in Maths GCSE she enrolled at Stockton Riverside College and retook it with success which allowed her to secure a place on an access course and then enrol at Teesside University.

Mrs Smith from Billingham, Stockton, credits her husband, Paul, and children, Charlie, 12, Erin, 10, and Jude, five, for supporting her throughout her studies while also working as a pub waitress and in a hospital accident and emergency department.

“Juggling studying, working, coursework, exams and a placement alongside three young children has been really tough, said Mrs Smith.

“It isn’t easy but my family has been so supportive. I want my children to know how important it is to stick in at school and get your qualifications so you can go on to achieve your dreams.

“I think it is so important for people to realise that if you really want something you can get it,” she added. “Don’t give up. If you haven’t got your Maths and English qualifications, start with these as they are essential. "

People come on this blog moaning about people doing nothing and claiming benefits, we have a story about achievement ,and somebody making something of themselves and raising family, and we still have the same people moaning, perhaps you have nothing empty lives, and are envious of everyone no matter what their circumstances.

Don't think so more like jealousy and envy, from empty people.

There has not been a single comment bemoaning the woman in question - merely a question as to the editorial priorities of a NEWSpaper.

But it is news, better to read now and then about somebody doing well in life, instead of people losing their job,or are you only interested in doom and gloom.
