DARLINGTON'S deputy mayor Charles Johnson will attend the Sid Chaplain awards, in Shildon, on Tuesday (March 5) evening. Mayor Paul Baldwin will host a group of exchange students from Bremen, in Germany, at the town hall, on Wednesday (March 6) lunchtime. Coun Johnson, as deputy mayor will be present at the South Tyneside International Magic Festival, on Sunday (March 10), at 7pm.

ORAL HEALTH: Darlington Borough Council’s children and young people scrutiny committee meets on Monday (March 4), at 4pm, at the town hall. Members will hear a report on youngsters’ dental health from Dr Richard Holmes, from NHS County Durham and Darlington.

TABLE SALE: Heighington Scouts will hold a coffee morning and table-top sale, in Heighington Village Hall, from 10am until 2pm, on Saturday, March 23. There will be bacon sandwiches, soup, a cake stall and tombola. Admission is £1 including tea/coffee and a biscuit.

COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning in aid of Kidney Research will be held in Heighington Village Hall, from 10am to noon, on Saturday (March 9). Admission free.

CUTHBERT LECTURE: The Reverend John McManners will give the 2013 St Cuthbert’s Lecture, entitled Cuthbert at Melrose, at St Cuthbert’s Church, Darlington, on Tuesday, March 19, at 7.30pm. All are welcome.

LUNCH CLUB: A meeting of the former Darlington High School Old Girls group will be held at The Chequers Inn, in Dalton on Tees, at 12.15pm, on Wednesday, March 13.

CAMERA CLUB: Darlington Camcorder Club offers training in how to get the most from a person video camera. The club meets each Thursday, at 7.30pm, in the Methodist chapel hall, on The Green, in Haughton. Annual subscription is £25. Visitors can attend for £2.
