TWO men appeared in court today in relation to an alleged mass brawl in a County Durham pub.
George Robert Watson, 40, and his stepson Michael George Holmes, 30, have been jointly charged with wounding with intent following the incident at the Flintlock Inn, in West Cornforth, near Ferryhill on Monday night (February 26).
Mr Watson, of Cedar Terrace, West Cornforth, faces additional charges of possessing an imitation firearm, namely a single-barrelled shotgun, and possessing a knife in a public place.
Mr Holmes, of Hawthorne Terrace, West Cornforth, is also charged with possessing an offensive weapon, namely a baseball bat, and possessing a knife in a public place.
The pair were refused bail at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court and the case was committed to Durham Crown Court on March 7.
No pleas were entered.
On Wednesday, the Flintlock Inn was shut down after members of Durham County Council’s statutory licensing sub-committee suspended its premise licence and magistrates in Newton Aycliffe granted a closure order.
