ORGANISERS of a charity summer celebration in the grounds of of an 18th Century manor say the this year’s event has its strongest ever musical line-up.

Rising stars and Thirsk-based band My Forever and Queen tribute band Flash will perform to an expected audience of 1,000 at the 8th Picnic in the Park on Saturday, July 13, tickets for which go on sale on Friday (March 1).

Flash have performed to audiences of up to 10,000 at venues across the world and claim to “epitomize the power and uniqueness of what is the Queen phenomenon”.

Four-piece pop-rock band My Forever, whose track The World Won’t Wait was selected as BBC Radio One’s Record of the Week in December, have attracted a strong North Yorkshire fanbase since forming last year.

The Thirsk Royal British Legion will also perform at the event, which will have a fireworks display finale, to raise funds for local charities and Action Medical Research in Thirsk Hall’s ten acres of parkland overlooking Thirsk Racecourse.

Organisers Sue Calvert and Jane Burgess, of Thirsk Action Group, said the line-up had attracted unprecedented interest on the event’s Facebook page and expected strong ticket sales.

Visitors are invited to take their own picnic or buy food available on site.

Early bird tickets, which cost £4 less than the normal £20 adult and £12 for 12 to 16-year-old entry fees, will be on sale until April 30. Under-11s enter free with an accompanying adult.
