VANDAL ATTACK: A greenhouse in the grounds of Staindrop Primary School, Staindrop, near Barnard Castle, was damaged by vandals. The incident happened on Monday, February 25, and is the latest in a number of incidents in the grounds of the school. The problem has been made a police priority through the PACT process and officers say the school grounds will be closely monitored. Anyone with information on the latest incident should contact Barnard Castle Police on 101.

IN THE MONEY: Two tickets from Barnard Castle have each scooped £1,000 in the People's Postcode Lottery. The postcode DL12 8UU was drawn on Tuesday, February 26.

ANNUAL MEETING: The AGM of Winston Village Hall will take place on Monday, March 4, starting at 8pm in the hall supper room.

LENT LUNCH: St Andrew's Church, Winston, will be hosting a Lent lunch on Saturday, March 9, starting at noon. On the menu will be soup and a roll plus cheese and biscuits.

CHURCH TALKS: A series of talks to coincide with Lent will take place at the United Reformed Church, Hall Street, Barnard Castle. The talks, based on “encounters with Jesus” will take place on March 6, 13 and 20. They have been organised by Churches Together in Barnard Castle. All welcome.
