New vicar for Brompton on Swale parish
6:00am Saturday 2nd March 2013 in News
A VICAR has been officially inducted into her new parish of Brompton-on-Swale, Bolton-on-Swale, Easby and Skeeby.
The Reverend Yvonne Callaghan, formally vicar of Middleham, celebrated her appointment in her induction and installation service at St Agatha’s church in Skeeby.
She said: “The service was just amazing, I had a wonderful night.
“Bishop James Bell of Knaresborough and Arch Deacon Nicholas Henshall led the service, and Bishop James spoke so well, about how everyone in the church plays their part in spreading the word of Jesus in the community.
“I am really looking forward to getting to work, it is such a lovely area and everyone has been so lovely and welcoming.
“I am especially looking forward to this Sunday (March 3) and Easter Sunday, when I will be visiting each church in the parish, and the Good Friday Walk of Witness from St Paul’s Church in Brompton-on-Swale.”
Rev Callaghan, originally from Leeds, moved with her family to Middleham in 2008, and hopes that she will remain in Brompton-on-Swale for the foreseeable future.
