A YORKSHIRE Dales restaurant and boutique hotel is flushed with pride at its new toilet design.

The Wensleydale Heifer, in West Witton in the Yorkshire Dales, now features hand-painted images in the style of cheeky old-fashioned British seaside postcards.

Darlington artist Katie Bird created the pictures especially for the inn.

In keeping with the unique style of the Wensleydale Heifer a highlight is the full-length pictures painted on the outside doors.

David Moss, co-owner of the Wensleydale Heifer, said: “We believe these are possibly the funkiest toilets in the country.

“We asked Katie to create something that was fun, eye-catching and a little bit saucy and the toilets definitely fit the bill.

“They are a real talking point and take visitors of a certain age back to the heyday of the British seaside holiday, while younger visitors are experiencing this quirky sense of humour for the first time.

“We never do anything by halves at the Heifer to give visitors an experience to remember for all the right reasons and after ‘spending a penny’ they come back with a smile and a chuckle.”
