A PARLIAMENTARY seminar will be held in the North-East later this week (March 1).
The session is designed to give those involving in scrutinising the work of councils the chance to learn from Parliamentary Select Committees.
More than 50 councillors and council officers have signed up for the event, to be held in Sunderland Council Chamber on Friday.
Sunderland Central MP Julie Elliott will speak about her work on the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee.
Councillor David Tate, scrutiny chair at Sunderland City Council, said: “This is the first time an event like this has been held in the North-East.
“We’re delighted to be hosting it here in Sunderland as part of our role in supporting the North-East regional scrutiny network.
“It’s a great opportunity for all of us with a role in scrutiny to learn from the work of Parliamentary Select Committees and I’m sure it will be a really interesting session.”
