A MAN who was fatally injured after being involved in an accident with two lorries has been named.

The car driven by Roy Mackenzie, 35, from Thirsk, North Yorkshire, was involved in a collision with a truck on the A19 near Northallerton. He managed to get out of his car only to be hit by a second lorry.

The two accidents happened within ten minutes of each other, between 1.10am and 1.20am on Tuesday (February 19) near the junctions for Over Silton and Kirby Sigston.

Mr Mackenzie was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, but later died of his injuries.

He had been driving a black Ford Focus and his car left the road after being hit by the first lorry.

Although the driver did not stop, he has been identified.

An inquest into Mr Mackenzie's death was opened and adjourned at 11.45am today (Friday, February 22) in Northallerton.

Police would like to hear from anyone on the road about the time of the collision to contact them if they have not already done so. They should call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for Richard Parsons.
