STUDENTS from an after school club have been learning about life in the North-East in the 1950s.
The Horrible Histories club at Bishop Barrington School, in Bishop Auckland, was invited to be a part of a special project at the Beamish Museum.
Pupils were given the task of persuading members of the pit village to attend a meeting to save it from a category D label, which inevitably would mean it would be demolished and the residents would have to re-homed elsewhere.
This helped pupils gain an understanding of what life was like in the area after Second World War and their work was displayed in the museum during half term.
