RAISING A GLASS: David Wall, of Wall's Brewery, with the Henry Jenkins inspired Longevity Ale
A BREWERY is launching a series of ales to bottle the memory of some historic characters.
Wall’s Brewery, in Northallerton, said it will toast Thirsk-born 18th century professional cricketer Thomas Lord, the father of flight and Scarborough MP Sir George Cayley with full-bodied brews.
The series has started with Longevity, a milk stout in tribute to Henry Jenkins, of Ellerton-on-Swale, North Yorkshire, who claimed to be 169 years old before he died in 1670.

Jenkins claimed to have been born in 1501, before parish records were required, and to have carried arrows to the English archers at the Battle of Flodden in 1513.
A spokesman for the brewery said: “It is a really strong area for tourists and hopefully people will see the bottles and ask more questions about the characters.”
