PEOPLE are being encouraged to take up a healthier lifestyle with the launch of a new Trim Trail.

Middlesbrough’s historic Stewart Park will play host to the exercise course designed to keep the entire family in shape.

The Trim Trail, which was designed by Middlesbrough Council’s Active Parks team, is officially launched this week and features six stations spread out around the park with a range of work-outs.

The wooden nature of the equipment complements the park’s recent refurbishment thanks to a major Lottery grant.

Councillor Nicky Walker, the council’s executive member for environment, said: “Stewart Park is already one of the jewels in Middlesbrough’s crown, and a popular destination for families from the town and beyond.

“The Trim Trail is yet another great idea that adds to the first class leisure offer at the park, as well as enhancing its health and environmental credentials.

“It’s an excellent and practical way for the community to enjoy social and physical activity, and a sustainable and low cost solution for people looking to get in shape and stay fit and healthy in the town’s fantastic green spaces.”
