THE recipe for a healthier future will be on offer in a market town next weekend.

The Change4Life Be Food Smart Roadshow visits the market place in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, on Saturday February 23 from 10am to 4pm.

The free roadshow aims to demonstrate that simple and healthy food can be easy to make and taste great.

Visitors will be able to watch food demonstrations, get cooking in the virtual kitchen and find out what the jargon on food labels means.

There will also be health advisors offering free mini health MOTs and health checks for people aged 16 and over.

The roadshow has been organised by Chester-le-Street and District Area Action Partnership’s Health Action Group with Durham County Council and the Health Improvement Service, and County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

Andrew Megginson, Chester-le-Street and District AAP co-ordinator, said: “We are very pleased to be bringing the Food Smart Roadshow to Chester-le-Street. “It will give residents the chance to learn more about the programme and the benefits of making just small adjustments to the lifestyle choices we make.”
