Help with winter warmth
Updated 1:44pm Thursday 14th February 2013 in News
OLDER , vulnerable and disabled housing association tenants are getting help to stay warm.
The Housing Group c has received funding from the Foundations Independent Living Trust (FILT) to help people in County Durham, Darlington and Redcar and Cleveland with measures including boiler servicing and the fitting of draught excluders and radiator foils.
The winter warmth measures will be carried out in homes across the region by Four Housing Group’s Care and Repair Service. This includes a team of 27 handypersons and a number of specialist contractors who will be delivering the home improvements.
Philippa Hughes, the association’s Interim Head of Care, said: “Our Care and Repair Service plays an essential role in safeguarding vulnerable people from the challenges of independent living and we are delighted that we have received FILT funding to support this.
“As well as investing thousands of pounds into implementing winter warmth measures, which are vital during the coldest months of the year, our Care and Repair service is active all year round making large and small scale repairs and adaptations to the properties of people who are old, disabled or otherwise vulnerable.”
