Woman trapped under runaway car

A WOMAN was taken to hospital tonight (Wednesday, February 13) after being struck by a car which had rolled down a driveway.
The impact caused her to slip and she became trapped under the BMW.
Fire fighters were called to the scene on Maddison Gardens, Birtley, near Chester-le-Street, at 6pm.
They stabilised the car with a trolley jack, then used airbags to lift it off the woman.
She was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with suspected head and chest injuries.
