COUNCIL CUTS: Sunderland City Council has warned that further job losses are inevitable as it looks to make another £100m of cuts over the next three years. The authority’s Cabinet is to meet on Wednesday to set its budget and council tax for the coming year, with £37m of cuts over the next 12 months including the possible closure of Crowtree Leisure Centre.
HELP NEEDED: HM Coastguard is looking to recruit six adult volunteer Coast Rescue Officers to cover Hartlepool, Sunderland and Blyth. Volunteers respond to emergency incidents on the coast, from searching for lost children to helping with cliff rescues. Candidates need to be fit, live and work within 15 minutes of their nearest coastguard base and be prepared to train at least one evening a week and at weekends. Please contact greg.albrighton@mcga.gov.uk for an application form.
