POETRY, performance and an exhibition inspired by the Titanic are on offer at the Head of Steam Museum over the next fortnight.

This Saturday, February 9, local author Natalie Scott will be at the museum from 2pm to read poems from her book, ‘Berth - Voices of the Titanic’.

Ms Scott’s poetry is inspired by what the Titanic’s passengers might have voiced, as well as featuring amusing reflections from the iceberg and the anchor.

The poems commemorate those who were lost and celebrate those who survived.

After the reading Natalie will be available for questions and to sign copies of her book, and light refreshments will be available.

The following weekend on Sunday, February 17, The History Wardrobe will bring their popular ‘Titanic’ show to the museum.

The play follows the plight of famous dress designer Lady Lucy Duff-Gordon - known in Society as 'Lucile' – during the fatal night in April 1912.

The History Wardrobe’s unique presentation of historical costumes, documents and survivor testimonies promises a fascinating glimpse into life on board Titanic; along with the aftermath of the tragedy.

In addition to the special events, the ‘Titanic Honour and Glory’ exhibition continues to run at the museum until March 31.

Voted by The Times newspaper as one of the top exhibitions in the country, it began a national tour last year to mark the 100th anniversary of the tragedy.
