Woman's body found in Blyth house by police investigating Shiremoor car accident

The body of a woman has been discovered inside a house by police carrying out enquiries into a car crash.
Northumbria Police received a report of a car crashing into a lamp post in Bertram Place, Shiremoor, North Tyneside just before 11.10am today (Monday, February 4).
Officers attended and the occupant of the car, a woman, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where she is in a serious condition.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries at the scene of the crash led officers to an address in Holywell, Blyth, Northumberland.
"Officers attended the address at noon and forced entry. The body of a woman was found inside the house."
Both scenes are being examined.
Northumberland Area Command Temporary Chief Superintendent Dianne Winship said: "We are at the earliest stages of an investigation into today's events.
"We are not in a position to release any further information at this time."
Anyone with information about the death or the crash are asked to contact police on the 101 non-emergency number.
