Cable fault causes Darlington power cut

A fault in an 11,000 volt cable triggered power cuts to 2,078 homes and businesses in the Darlington tonight.
A spokesman for Northern Powergrid said the supply failed at 9.43pm but was restored to 1,718 customers after just three minutes.
The remainder were restored by 10.11pm. Engineers are still working on the exact cause of the fault.
