This was the scene on the A19 at 8.20 am today - crash between Norton and Billingham on the southbound carriageway saw the road closed and Police turned the traffic around and back up to the A689 turn off.
It also stopped The Northern Echo's sports editor Nick Loughlin from getting to Portsmouth to report on Hartlepool's League One game after he was stuck for 90 minutes.
