A JURY has been unable to reach a decision in the case of a woman accused of snatching money from a boy at a cashpoint machine.
The panel of six men and six women was discharged by a judge after deliberating for most of today (Wednesday, January 23) at Teesside Crown Court.
Sharon Gill, 40, denied a charge of robbery arising from an incident outside a parade of shops in Grangetown, near Middlesbrough.
A 12-year-old boy was barged in the shoulder and had £40 stolen as he withdrew money from the hole-in-the-wall on August 21 last year.
Ms Gill, of Martindale Road, Grangetown, told the jury she played no part in the midnight mugging and suggested another person did it.
She admitted being near the shopping parade on Birchington Avenue, but told the jury that she was feet away and never approached the boy.
The case will return to court next week when a decision will be made by prosecutors on whether or not to have a retrial.
