By Andy Walker, Chief Reporter (Darlington)
A HOLOCAUST memorial day ceremony will be held in Darlington next week.
The annual ceremony, the 13th to be held in the borough, marks the 68th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz in January 1945.
Bridge-building is the theme of this year’s event, which will be held at the Dolphin Centre, at 1pm, on Monday (January 28).
It will include a testimony from Deanna van der Velde, a representative of the Association of Jewish Refugees, as well as reading, music and prayer.
Council leader Bill Dixon said: “Holocaust Memorial Day provides an opportunity to learn from the Holocaust and more recent genocides, and promote democracy and societies which respect and celebrate diversity.”

I don't know if it worth trying to build bridges with people who hold such views
A "Peace in our Time" approach has been proven not to work

Who in Darlington is going to learn from the Holocaust, as a result of this event in the Dolphin centre? No-one? And who is the Council going to 'promote democracy' to, from this event?
