A NORTH-East rower has won gold, silver and bronze in a youth Olympics.

Competing in the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival, rower Nicole Lamb, a former Durham School pupil, won gold in the women’s four, silver in the women’s double and bronze in the women’s eight.

The 20-year-old from Hexham, Northumberland, is now studying Chemistry at Newcastle University.

Martin George, headmaster at Durham School, said: “We are immensely proud of Nicole’s achievements which are thoroughly deserved as she has always had such an excellent work ethic and dedication to her sport.

“Things are looking very promising for Nicole and we will be following her progress carefully over the next few years.”
