AN HISTORIAN will help nature enthusiasts learn more about Durham Cathedral’s woodlands and riverbanks next weekend.

Dorothy Hamilton, a renowned local historian, will lead a one-day workshop at Alington House Community Centre, 4 North Bailey, Durham City, on Saturday, January 26.

Last year, Dr Hamilton ran a project investigating the history of the area, with participants delving into the Cathedral’s archives and other sources to unearth the past.

Cathedral staff are now working on presenting some of the findings on information boards.

Dr Hamilton’s workshop will run from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Entry is free but places are limited. To book, email: events@durhamcathedral.co.uk
