A FORMER boxing champion has visited a school to promote healthy lifestyles.
Hartlepool-born Amanda Coulson, a former British title holder, has been mentoring Belmont Community School students, in Durham City, in their efforts to create a Keep Fit and Healthy road show for younger children at nearby primary schools.
Ms Coulson, now an athlete mentor for Sky Sports Living for Sport, joined the students as they presented the road show at Belmont Junior School today (Thursday, January 17).
One of the students, Kirsten Challand, said: “This has been a fantastic and exciting project to be involved in.
“It was just fabulous to see the children’s faces when we were at the school.”
Teacher Anita Steven said: “What started as a simple request for health and fitness help for infant pupils has now become a real lifestyle road show for students of all ages.
“My students have been brilliant and so motivated with this project. They see the importance of motivating students of all ages to be like them and also to aspire to be athletes of tomorrow.”
