A WOMAN was described as 'walking wounded' after her car was reported to have skidded on ice and come to rest in a tree.

The accident, involving a black Vauxhall Corsa, happened at 8.15pm tonight (January 15) on the A68 between Darlington and Swan House.

A spokesman for Durham constabulary said that the road was covered in a sheet of ice after water had drained off the fields and frozen.
