UNIDENTIFIED BODY: A forensic police officer stands close to where a body was found next to the River Ouse, in Acaster Malbis, south of York city centre
POLICE are still trying to identify a body recovered from a muddy riverbank on the River Ouse, near York at the weekend.
It may be some days before they can identify the remains found at Acaster Malbis, which were spotted by a member of the public.
North Yorkshire Police have said it is not that of missing accountant 29-year-old Chris Baker who disappeared in York before Christmas.

Missing: Chris Baker
They have been liaising with other forces around the country to check if the body could have been from outside York and North Yorkshire.
Police are treating the death as “unexplained.”
