Former snooker world champion Shaun "The Magician" Murphy will take part in an exhibition evening at the Slug and Lettuce pub, in Walkergate, Durham City, on Thursday, February 7.

COUNCILLOR QUITS: Tara Saville has stood down from Sherburn Parish Council, in County Durham, after moving from Gilesgate to Seaham, which is beyond the three-mile limit to be eligible for election as a parish councillor. A complaint was raised by Sherburn resident Adam Foster. Ms Saville's seat is likely to remain vacant until local elections in May.
