THE winner of a police-run teddy bear hunt has been announced.
The Durham Safe City campaign’s Christmas Bear Hunt saw 115 teddies hidden in shop and cafe windows around Durham city centre.
Each bore a red, yellow, blue or green sash, each of which represented a different safety message.
Red meant “Say ‘no’ to strangers”, yellow meant “Use the boot for your Christmas loot”, blue meant “Don’t give burglars the chance to steal your gifts at home” and green meant “Keep Durham City tidy”.
The person who found the most bears before Monday, January 7, was promised a gift voucher.
On Friday (January 11), Durham Constabulary announced that the winner was four-year-old Taylor Neal, of Seaham.
The schoolgirl won a £25 voucher for Waterstones and a certificate.
Two runners-up each won £10 gift vouchers.
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Dave Orford and Councillor John Wilkinson, the Mayor of Durham, presented the prizes at Durham City police station.
