Hartlepool teenager stole pregnant girlfriend's bank card from her mother's Netwon Aycliffe home
A TEENAGER used his pregnant girlfriend’s bank card to withdraw money to pay off a drug debt a court heard.
David Maddison, prosecuting, told Newton Aycliffe magistrates today (Monday, January 14) that the 18-year-old had withdrawn £60 from the account without permission and used it to pay off a drug debt.
In a statement read out at court the mother-of-two said: “I am disgusted someone who is supposed to love me could have hurt me in this way and taken from the mouths of young children.”
Marie Barker, mitigating, said Kerr had pleaded guilty to theft by finding and had been forgiven by his partner.
She said he had a cannabis problem but had taken steps to address this, adding: “Mr Kerr’s daughter was born yesterday and he is determined to make a life with his family.”
Kerr was sentenced to 12 months probation supervision and 40 hours unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £60 compensation and a £60 victim’s surcharge.
