STAFF from more than 50 businesses and NHS organisations put on their cycling shorts for a weekend challenge.
The Workforce Workfit 2013 Cycling Challenge, held in Newcastle’s Eldon Square on Saturday and Sunday, saw tax inspectors, teachers, nurses and retailers among others, compete in teams on static bikes to see who could travel furthest in an allotted time.
Prof Eugene Milne, Deputy Regional Director of Public Health, said: "We are seeing a boom in the popularity of cycling right now.
"The Workforce Workfit Cycling Challenge is a great way to be part of this movement, one that we hope will continue to make cycling part of healthy and sustainable lives."
